Jim will be a skip!
The Golland was concluded tonight after a very tight round of games between David Hornyack, Jim Saunderson and Johnny Nelson in which every match had been peeled.
With Jim & Johnny playing a virtual sudden death, it was very close with Jim and his rink of Willie Robertson, John Cassells and Lorne Watson managing to take 4 ones in the first 6 ends against one for Johnny playing with Arthur Lawrie, Michael Longstaffe and Hector. They were getting stones in the house but one of Jims yellows always seemed to creep in. It took a fire alarm to break Jims run and after 10 minutes of standing outside the game resumed but the subsequent end was following the pattern of the previous 6 with Jims stone pipping Johnnys reds with no way in. Johnny played a bold stone promoting one of his own stones which successfully rearranged the shots to give him a 3. Unfortunately although extra time had been added the bell had gone leaving the tie as another draw both with 4 shots. At the finish it came down to ends and Jims earlier run gave him sufficient to take the Golland trophy.
