Golland

Golland Trophy for Thirds, Seconds, Leads & Reserves only (No Skips) Thirds acting as skips & the winning skip invited to be Club Skip

In 1977, Jim Paterson, Golland Farm, Carnbo (Willie S Paterson’s dad) presented this trophy to the club, proposing that a competition be held on the Green Hotel ice, with Third’s acting as Skips and Skips going down to Second, using the present Holton rinks.   This was seconded by Sandy Braid.

Jim joined the club in 1954, was a Skip, committee member & Past President in season 1960-61.

A curling family, all members of Orwell,  Jim & his 2 brothers Willie & Andrew followed now by his son Willie, wife Kaye & daughter Kirsty both Orwell Ladies. His 3rd brother, John, did not curl.

In their day, Jim, Willie & Andrew were keen keen curlers, members you would want in your rink & if asked to draw that crucial shot, was guaranteed, every time!
